Student should begin to understand the basic physical techniques.
Students should be able to perform while standing still or moving forward.
Ippon: Partner one attacks, partner two defends. Reverse order after 3 to 5 repetitions. Techniques for this level should be as follows:
Student must be able to recite and explain 2 of 6.
Topic: “Why do I study Karate?”

Same requirements as for yellow belt are expected with more emphasis on power and stances. A minimum of one Discipline Stripe must be obtained if the student is under the age of 16.
Ippon Kumite – “Four way” defender should be able to execute all white belt kumite techniques from four different start positions; facing a different direction each time.
Sanbon Kumite – Three-level attack (jodan, chudan, gedan) – three level defence with gyaku zuki on last step.
Student should be able to recite and explain 4 of 6.

A minimum of one Discipline Stripe must be obtained if the student is under the age of 16.
1. Jodan attack: Move 45 degrees to kokutsu dachi with hidari (left) shuto. Shift to zenkutsu dachi with chudan gyaku zuki.
2. Chudan attack: Step in zenkutsu dachi with migi (right) soto uke , shift to kiba dachi with chudan empi.
3. Mae geri attack: Move right into kokutsu dachi 45 degrees with left gedan barai uke, shift to zenkutsu dachi, shuto with right hand
4. Mawashi geri: Defender moves to right 45 degrees into zenkutsu dachi using left hand for jodan shuto uke, gyaku zuki chudan with right

Emphasis on focus, breathing, power, strength and endurance. A minimum of one Discipline Stripe must be obtained if the student is under the age of 16.

Student will begin creating their own combinations with a partner in order to pass the Shodan (first degree) Black Belt test. Both attacker and defender are in fighting stance. Attacker warns his/her partner of the level of the attack (jodan, chudan) and of the technique to be executed.

One kata and 6 kumite techniques.

Student should begin choose a weekly class that is assigned to them as an assistant instructor in order to fulfill the 100 hour requirement for Shodan. A minimum of one Discipline Stripe must be obtained if the student is under the age of 16.
Student will start creating their own line drills in order to prepare for the Shodan (first degree) Black Belt Test.

Student should continue to develop their own kumite that was created in the previous level. Two techniques to defend against a Yoko Geri Kekomi should be added.
Defence against overhead and side strikes with a knife.
One kata and kumite (should be an improvement from previous levels).
Interview any other Okami Kai Martial Art or Fitness member. Write about their life and experiences
